Designing Success for AxessPointe Community Health

AxessPointe Community Health Centers, originally named Akron Community Health Resources, Inc., opened its doors in 1995 after receiving contributions from the Bureau of Primary Health Care to establish the first federally qualified community health center in Summit County.

AxessPointe has five locations currently in Northeast Ohio, including three in Akron, one in Kent, and one in Barberton. As an FQHC, they deliver primary medical and dental care in medically underserved areas. AxessPointe is also able to provide behavioral health, women’s health, and pharmacy services.

While their focus is on uninsured, underinsured, and Medicaid/Medicare patients who may not have access to affordable health care, their services are open to all. Their health care teams provide diagnosis, treatment, and preventive medical and dental services. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, most private insurances and provide a sliding-fee scale based on family size and income.

AxessPointe is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), represented by the OACHC. FQHCs qualify to receive operating grants under Section 330 of the United States Public Health Service Act. AxcessPointe also operates under the OACHC, Ohio Association of Community Health Centers. This is a non-profit organization that represents Ohio’s FQHCs.

As a National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA) certified patient-centered medical home (PCMH), AxcessPointe is committed to high-quality care and service. They are also a member of the National Health Service Corps – which ensures we have qualified and passionate health care providers through loan repayment packages.

The Challenge

Axesspointe needed to spread its message to potential patients throughout all of its locations. They also needed to make sure that any strategies they put into place were HIPAA compliant and wouldn’t cause any complications with their funding sources.

The Approach

In 2018, ADVAN design and AxessPointe teamed up to create a brand new website and implement an SEO strategy with a starter budget. We focused on local SEO strategies, HIPAA compliant hosting, and design and branding that set them up as the clear choice for patients in the communities they served.

When the 2020 pandemic hit, AxessPointe’s message became even more important when it came to providing reliable resources for testing and vaccination. ADVAN Design and digital marketing made sure to position them with authority on the topic, while still learning to speak the right healthcare language in a way their potential patients could connect with.

The Results

  • Over 150 keywords in the top 3 positions on google
  • 595% increase in organic traffic
  • 129% increase in organic keyword positioning

We’re excited to share that we’re currently working on yet another website redesign for AxessPointe and they’ve decided to increase their SEO budget. We’re so happy to be able to provide real results for organizations that make a difference in the health of our communities.
